Tina Turner – 81 Years Old

Tina Turner was a positive force when she came on stage as the Ike & Tina Turner Revue lead singer. Since then, she cemented her degree as one of the most potent soul singers in American music history. Her performances slammed doors all over the place, harkening back to the early 1950s. As she reached her late era as a critical impact on younger generations, she ensured her high profile well into the twenty-first century.

Turner began singing as a teenager before joining Ike Turner’s touring performance as a backup vocalist at 18. Together with her then-husband, their first charting track was A Fool in Love, and they continued to have significant hits throughout the 1960s. She celebrated her newfound independence by starring in the critically praised film adaptation of the Who’s Tommy. She continued to release several albums in the late 1970s, but her career seemed to have halted by the turn of the decade. Turner is semi-retired and currently resides in Switzerland, where she obtained Swiss citizenship.
